GameOn (“GameOn,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the GameOn mobile app and website (together, the “Service”), which help players find and join pickup sports games, book venues, and connect with coaches. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have — including special protections that apply when a child under 13 uses GameOn under a parent or guardian’s supervision.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), and account type (player, parent, coach, or venue owner).
- Profile information: birth date, sports and skill levels, profile photo, and general location (city/area) used for skill matching and game discovery.
- Game and venue activity: games you create, join, or host; venue searches and bookings; and RSVPs.
- Precise location data: collected only with your device permission, to show nearby games and venues and, during an active game you’ve joined, to support in-game location sharing with other participants.
- Messages: content you send through in-app messaging with other players, teams, or coaches.
- Payment information: processed directly by our payment processor, Stripe. GameOn does not store full card numbers; we retain only transaction records (amounts, dates, and status) needed for receipts, refunds, and payout accounting.
- Device and usage data: device push-notification tokens, app version, and basic diagnostic/log data used to operate and secure the Service.
2. How We Use Information
- Operate core features: game discovery, skill-based matching, venue booking, and messaging.
- Process payments, platform fees, refunds, and coach/host payouts.
- Send transactional notifications (game updates, booking confirmations, message alerts).
- Verify parental consent for accounts belonging to children under 13.
- Maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Service, including fraud prevention.
- Improve and troubleshoot the Service.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
GameOn complies with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
- During registration, we ask for a birth date. If the birth date indicates the registrant is under 13, the account is created in an inactive, restricted state and cannot participate in games, messaging, or profile creation until a parent or guardian grants consent.
- We require a parent or guardian’s email address for any account belonging to a child under 13. We send the parent a unique linking code to review the request and grant or deny consent.
- Only after a parent grants consent do we activate the child’s account and begin collecting profile, game, and location information from that child, limited to what is reasonably necessary for GameOn’s core features.
- We do not knowingly enable behavioral advertising, public profile exposure, or third-party data sharing beyond the service providers listed in Section 3 for child accounts.
5. Parental Rights & Controls
A parent or guardian who has linked a child’s account can, at any time:
- Review the personal information collected from their child.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Revoke consent and request deletion of their child’s personal information, which deactivates the child’s account and removes their profile data.
- Refuse to permit further collection or use of their child’s information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@game-on.app from the email address associated with your parent account. We will verify your identity as the linked parent/guardian before acting on the request.
6. Data Retention
We retain account and activity data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service, comply with legal and tax obligations (such as payment records), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law (for example, financial transaction records).
7. Data Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections (TLS) for data in transit, salted password hashing, and role-based access controls that restrict administrative access to authorized personnel. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Rights & Choices
- Access & correction: update most profile information directly in the app, or contact us for information not editable in-app.
- Deletion: request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting us.
- Location permissions: control precise location sharing at any time through your device’s settings.
- Notifications: manage push notification preferences in the app or at the device level.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify users through the app or by email before the changes take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
